Trust in God, and you forgot again!

Trust in GodAt time it happens that during the course of the day we un-intentionally dive down deep in our thoughts and begin thinking of things that make us sad, and for a moment or two we hit a high depression level. But soon after we realize what we promised to God and what faith we have in Him so we gather ourselves and come back to the state of normality. We feel sorry for losing our trust and faith there for a moment and promise ourselves that this will not happen again.  So the question is, why does it happen at the first place? We after putting all our troubles and burdens at the start of our day on God why still we go down deep in the abyss of worrying thoughts and troubling past or concerns of future? Why do we forget about our complete faith and trust in God?

The answers is that we are just humans. Difficulties are a part of life and these are the times when our faith and trust gets a chance to renew itself and get stronger. Peter who claimed that he has the strongest faith and trust in Jesus denied that he knew Him 3 times, but immediately after that he was so ashamed of himself that he wept bitterly and after that his faith and trust continued to grow stronger and stronger and he was among the leading apostles to spread out Christianity in the early years. God never promised us that there will be no hard times in our life, He only promises us that He will be with us in those troubles, if we want Him to be. Every difficulty or hardship is like a dose to make your trust in God grow. Here are something’s that everyone can do to keep our trust on a steady course.

Pray Regularly

Pray and ask God what you want from Him as much as you can. Just speak whatever comes in your mind and talk to God. You may get angry sometime that why all this is happening to you and prayer is the best way to take your complaints to God. Many people in the hustle and bustle of life don’t give time to God and prayer and when they are in need they say from now on I will pray. Prayer doesn’t need any special requirements of time and place although it will be good if you set up your time and place but you can pray anytime in any situation in your heart during work or during a walk, just talk to God. Remember He listens to whatever you say to Him, ask Him whatever the desires of you heart are. If you are having difficulty in trusting God ask for strength. The patient is you who loses his or her strength of trust and prayer works like a pill of faith giving you strength in times of need. So don’t forget your daily dose.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you – Matthew 7:7

Make it your habit to pray every day before going to bed.

Thank Him

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” – Seneca (Roman Philosopher)

Always be thankful, in whatever situation you are in life, be thankful and have faith that good days are not far because you are God’s favorite child. Cherish your relationship with God. Take pride that you talk to him every day and He is with you in all your difficult times. Thank him for each and every little thing you get in the day. Imagine a mother or a father giving a present or tying laces of their 5 year old child and the child immediately says “Thank You, I love you” imagine what joy those parents must have felt at that moment. In this way when we thank God on the things, even the little things it strengthens our trust in Him and God rewards us for being thankful to Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight – Proverbs 3:5-6

Take a Moment

Take a moment to think, clear your mind, remember what you promised with yourself and God about your trust in Him. You can adopt this technique of saying “I trust in you Lord” or whatever line suits you and say it in your heart when depressing thoughts start coming in your mind. In this way you can block those thoughts by acknowledging your faith and trust in Lord.

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world – James 4:8

If you promised yourself and to God to stay away from the things and thoughts that trouble you will have to try to keep that promise as the path is not that easy as we often think . It may seem difficult in the beginning but with time God will guide you along the way and you will be stronger in putting your trust in Lord.

Talk to others

Ask for advice from friends, elders or your church pastor. They may be a great help by sharing their experiences and telling a thing or two. Ask them to remember you in their prayers. Everyone has a story and experience to share  when in times of troubles and perplexity  how they dealt the situation when they were angry with God or forgot that they had put their burdens on Him. So don’t be shy and talk.

Read the Bible

Make it a habit of reading the Bible every day. Even if it is one passage. There are many verses which can give you encouragement in time of perplexity, you can memorize them so you can remember them in the time of need.

For we walk by faith, not by sight. – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me. – Psalm 119:133

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight – Proverbs 3:5-6

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105

Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. – Job 22:21
